Husband passed away and left over $40000 bill

My husband was met with a fatal accident and passed away. I have 2 young children and I was faced with over $40,000 bill on me

It was just like any normal day, my husband was sending my daughter to school and I was sending my son to school. When I was back home, I received a call from the hospital saying that my husband was met with a fatal accident, he was in an emergency room and needed an emergency brain decompression surgery for him to survive. I was staying nearby the hospital, I told the doctor that I would reach there in 10 mins. I ran to the hospital, they proceeded to the emergency operation.

The doctor didn’t managed to complete the operation because his blood pressure was dropping to dangerous level. My husband was given medications to sustain his heart and blood pressure. The doctors was saying all the negative report that my husband is as good as dead and even when he is life is preserve he would be in vegetative state. I was looking for a tiniest hope there was and told the doctors that we cannot give up on his life. How could I, when we have 2 young children, a 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son?

The 6th day when he was in ICU, he didn’t made it. He passed away and I was left a widow and my kids fatherless. I was dealing with the loss of my husband and was trying to figure out how was best for my children, I didn’t care much about everything else.

On the second week after my husband passed away, I started receiving letters and bills. The vehicle that my husband used while he had the accident was rented. Because no one knows the details of vehicle he crashed into, the rental company was coming after me to pay them the damages of the vehicles because insurance would not cover as we do not know who is the third party. Then there was some other fees such as hospital fee, funeral fee, and many other fee. Suddenly I was faced with over $40,000 bill on me. that’s when it hit me that I’m a homemaker with little monthly income. We could get by if we live simply. However, such unexpected large amount of bill would be hard to manage.
