Campaign Story
Virgin Islands Montessori School and Peter Gruber International Academy is a non-profit
501c3 Toddler through 12 school in the U.S. Virgin Islands. On September 6, 2017 our island
took a direct hit from Category 5 Hurricane Irma and has been declared a national disaster.
The aftermath of the storm is devastating to our school and our island. Even worse,
Hurricane Maria followed soon after, the first time two Category 5 storms have barreled
through the Atlantic. The island will be without power for months. We have already set the
record for the longest outage in US history. The population of our Montessori and IB school
is made of mainly rural middle income families. Half of our students are provided financial
aid in order to attend. Many of our families own and run their own small businesses. As our
island attempts to rebuild, we will have families without power and many who have physically
lost their homes or businesses. It is essential that our school remain viable and continue
to serve the island's youth as it has for the past 53 years. This includes providing
financial aid to devastated families and funds to rebuild our severely damaged school.
Please consider making a donation to enable us to keep our doors open for education and our
island's future.
What Your Donation Can Provide:

Each gallon is important!
$54.99-- First Aid Carryall Coach Nurse could use several more of these to populate the
campus.
$97.40-- New Science Textbook for a 9th Grader A great deal of textbooks were ruined with
damaged roofs and flooding. You can replace one and make a child's life easier.
$229.99-- Large Wooden Classroom Storage Shelves Shelves of all kinds became waterlogged in
the storms and have already started disintegrating and molding. We use shelves to neatly
store all of our Montessori work, and we need a lot of replacements!
$350.00-- Materials Fee for Upper Elementary Sponsor a 4th-6th grader's materials fee for
the year.
$500.00-- Tech and Accreditation Fees for 7th Grade Our IA students use technology for
nearly all aspects of their academic education, and you can sponsor the yearly fee for one
of these students!
$1,100.00-- DP Test, Tech & Accreditation Fees for a Senior Senior year can be very
stressful as teens try to determine which colleges to apply to and study hard for exams.
Help a senior out by taking the yearly fees off of their family's plate.
$2,013.99-- Furnish an Entire Toddler Classroom Most of our furniture was ruined. You can
replace all the furniture in a toddler classroom with high quality wood tables, chairs and
bookshelves.
$3,615.00-- Semester of Primary Tuition Many families cannot afford tuition at all. Parents
have lost jobs and families have lost homes. Sponsor a child who could not otherwise afford
tuition.
$10,500.00-- Full Year of Tuition for a Primary Student Help increase our financial aid
offerings by providing a full scholarship to one child whose family has suffered extensive
losses in the hurricanes.
$16,500.00 Full Year of Tuition for a Senior Senior year is extremely important for a
child's future. It's important that all VIMSIA seniors can finish their schooling here,
regardless of financial constraints.
