Huntingdon – Through A Different Lens

This is a project I have wanted to do for a long time. It is about my home town in the UK called Huntingdon. It has a rich history and a vibrant soul, but it also (unfairly) has quite a bad name from an outside perception. I want to change that thought process and present a body of work that shows how great and beautiful this town really is.

From a geographical point of view, Huntingdon is in between Peterborough and Cambridge, with many major roads passing through it. It is also one of the stations on the East Coast Mainline Railway, making it an important junction between rail and road travel.

I am fed up with how people slate my home town, and I want to show the beauty of Huntingdon, but through a different lens - this is my project...

So a little bit more about me...

I am a professional freelance designer based near Cambridge in the UK. I have worked in the exhibition, education, retail and leisure industries and I have over 25 years of experience as a designer. I grew up in Huntingdon and lived most my life there. Now I have moved back I want to create a legacy about this town that works on different media - print, digital etc, with a long term plan to create an interactive digital exhibition of this body of work, and get young and old people on the community involved on all levels. I can bring all of my expertise to that end, but I need your help, I need funding for the equipment and print/web costs to make this project a reality, to create something everyone who lives in this town will be proud of.

Initially the work will be presented as a printed photo book as well as an online experience. In the future we will also create exhibitions and visual experiences of this work...it will operate on many different levels, and grow beyond all of our expectations...

Your donations will help me with getting the right camera/video gear, getting the right people involved in the design and print of the book, and the launching of the online experience and the social media campaigns.
