Campaign Story
Summary
According to the latest WHO data published in 2017 Kidney Disease Deaths in Philippines reached 22,772 or 3.68% of total deaths. The age adjusted Death Rate is 32.20 per 100,000 of population ranks Philippines #22 in the world.
With this dialysis center, the Philippine Red Cross aims to make quality and adequate hemodialysis treatments accessible to the less fortunate. To ensure an uninterrupted flow of services for indigent patients, the Philippine Red Cross established the Dialysis Samaritan Program, a sponsorship plan through which companies or individuals can shoulder cost of one session of hemodialysis per patient.
Challenge
Kidney Diseases especially, End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), are already the 7th leading cause of death among the Filipinos.
One Filipino develops chronic renal failure every hour or about 120 Filipinos per million population per year. More than 5,000 Filipino patients are presently undergoing dialysis and approximately 1.1 million people worldwide are on renal replacement therapy.
Based on the data from the Philippine Network for Organ Sharing of the Department of Health (DOH), close to 23,000 patients underwent dialysis treatment due to kidney failure in 2013, a huge jump from 4,000 cases recorded in 2004, or a 10 to 15 percent increase per year.
The figure, the DOH noted, did not include those suffering from kidney failure but were not able to undergo dialysis.
Solution
Help them live their life. Help them make more memories.
Donate now or be a Dialysis Samaritan for Philippine Red Cross Dialysis Center.
To ensure an uninterrupted flow of services for indigent patients, the Philippine Red Cross established the Dialysis Samaritan Program, a sponsorship plan through which companies or individuals can sponsor the dialysis treatments.
For a certain cost, a sponsor can shoulder the cost of one session of hemodialysis, which includes the use of a high-flux dialyzer, EPO injection (the injection to prevent anemia) and as-needed emergency medications, oxygen, and ambulance.
This will be dedicated to all indigent Filipinos that has Renal Diseases and need to undergo dialysis sessions. The Philippine Red Cross will encourage or solicit benefactors from individuals, private sector, NGO’s, Local and National Government Agencies to financially support indigent Filipinos who cannot afford the hemodialysis service.
Long-Term Impact
The Dialysis Center of the Philippine Red Cross’ main goal is to lessen the suffering of people afflicted with kidney failure and to provide them with a modern facility with state of the art equipment and quality healthcare.Fundraising Team
