Humanitarian Travel to Fiji – Construction & Renovation of local schools

Hi !

I am Alexandra, I am originally from Romania and I currently live in the south of France, together with my husband and my two cats, Igor and Ops (picture 3).

There are a lot of things in my life I am very grateful for, but mostly for the education and moral support my parents provided me when I grew up in Romania.

I had the chance to graduate in France, to get a job and to participate to the construction of my own small house (picture 2). But I have never forgotten there are plenty of places all over the world, where people do not have the same chances and opportunities I had.

So, I have decided to give back to the community a bit of what the life had given to me. I have decided to enroll myself for 3.5 weeks into a Humanitarian Travel to Fiji, to help with the construction and renovation of local schools and community buildings, such as libraries and resource centers, as they often do not have sufficient funding to get this work done themselves.

Why? Because I know how much education is important in the life of a kid. Because I know how much joy someone can feel when a building wall is up, when a room is nicely painted or when there is roof protecting from the rain. And also, because I want to give a piece of my energy, enthusiasm and hope to local communities in need.

The tasks I will be doing on a daily basis will vary and can include building, demolition, painting, cleaning, repairing fixtures, gardening and landscaping.

But getting enrolled into a Volunteering Adventure is not free of charge. I estimate the costs to ~3000 euros and this includes flight tickets, local accommodation and meals, travel insurance, other fees required by the local Fijian association taking care of my security and small gifts I plan to bring for the Fijian kids.
