Campaign Story
This June I will be traveling to Tucson, Az to volunteer with No More Deaths (an official 501c3 organization), whose mission is to end suffering along the U.S. border by performing humanitarian aid. The Dessert Aid program consists of:
- Hiking trails used by migrants and dropping food/water/socks/blankets
- Mapping trails and maintaining a presence in remote areas
- Providing first aid care to individuals in distress
- Witnessing and documenting any abuse, neglect, or mistreatment endured by detainees while in Border Patrol custody
While volunteering in the Spring of 2014, I realized the social responsibility I felt towards this issue and knew I could never be blind to it again. This issue is very close to my heart and now more than ever, I believe humanitarian aid needs to exist at our border. Your donations will allow me to travel to Arizona and participate in the valuable work done by this group. I will be updating this page as the campaign continues and posting about my experience from the trip when I return. Thank you for your support!
Estimated expenses:
- $600-1200 round trip to Tucson and back (the earlier I book the cheaper)
- $300-450 payment for each weekly session
- $300 food and lodging expenses in between sessions
- $200 camping supplies (sleeping bag, tent, backpack)
If the campaign happens to exceed its goal or if expenses are less than predicted, I will donate the rest to No More Deaths
Rewards
