Hristo is a young magician I met in Bulgaria at the annual Golden Cat Magic Festival in Gabrovo, BG. Last year Hristo was a performer in the close-up competition and I was impressed with his skills and whimsical personality. In the past Hristo has been treated for congenital glaucoma. he does not have normal vision. More recently Hristo has been diagnosed with a detached retina in one eye which has ruptured. He has visited several hospitals in his home town and been referred to others in Bulgaria. Finally a national consultant on ophthalmology and retina specialist in Sofia said that surgery must be carried out in Antwerp, Belgium since the procedure is extremely specialist and difficult and no such surgery is available in Bulgaria.
Hristo is part of a group called The Quick Hands Project, which is one also one of the new Rings of The International Brotherhood of Magicians. He's a talented young man at risk of going blind and all he needs is the funds for surgery to prevent this from happening. Dani Belev, founder of Quick Hands Project is currently touring Bulgaria with the "Kings of Magic" show and other members of Quick Hands. All profits from the tour are being given to Hristo and each member of the Quick Hands Project is also making personal donations. Hristo will receive about 1,500 Euros this Friday which will be a great help to the funds.
For Hristo's parents the funds needed to accomplish the surgery is impossible (travel and surgery in Europe). Teachers and classmates of Hristo from commercial high school, as well as PGPNE "Goethe" NUMSI "Prof.. Pancho Vladigerov" and PGMEE- Burgas have placed donation boxes in their buildings to raise money for the operation.
I have set up this page to receive funds from those who are able and willing to help reach the target of 12,000 Euro for the surgery which will hopefully prevent Hristo losing his sight.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and consideration. Lee Alex
