HPAIR Conference 2018

Hello! I am Aurelie Mok from Mauritius, a tiny island in the Indian Ocean. In 2014, I got a scholarship to study at Monash University Malaysia and four years later, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours).

I was accepted as a delegate for this year's Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. HPAIR conference is one of the most prominent, professional, high-quality conferences tackling about the most important social, cultural, political, environmental & economical issues in the world.

As the co-founder of Crafugees - a non-profit social enterprise that aims to help refugees in Malaysia (you can find more information on www.crafugees.com ), I have been immersed in the refugee crisis issue since last year. I have learned the harrowing experiences of the refugees in Malaysia and the demands that organisations face in their line of work.

But the most valuable lesson I have perhaps learned so far is that the fight for refugees' rights, is a responsibility shared by all its stakeholders – the public, private sector, and the community. As much as we want to strengthen the laws to protect the refugees' rights and create awareness about the refugee crisis, we also need to engage the citizenry to do their own part.

At the HPAIR conference, I hope to share my experience to a wider audience and learn from other youth leaders from all over the world.

I know that getting accepted as a delegate to the HPAIR conference is a huge opportunity. As a youth who passionately wants to take part in creating positive impact and changing the world, but doesn't have enough avenue yet to fund for the registration fee (450$), I would like to humbly ask for your support & funding assistance for the fulfillment of one of my biggest dreams.
