Hi, I'm a new voice actor/comedian. I am not famous or anything, but I have a gift to replicate a lot of voices. So, I figure I'd raise money for my career, so I might as well share some web building secrets (not fake secrets trying to earn cash, but real ones).
Currently there's a lot I need to do. I'm even willing to help those in specific career's, including voice acting. But, one thing I can do to earn my keep is teach you the methods of creating the best websites ever at the cheapest cost. Forget wix, forget weebly, those aren't good routes. I'm talking about real methods, ones that will save you tons of money in the long run.
To pay 20 dollars a month for something that wont give you unlimited bandwith is outrageous. Bandwith is what you can use a month based on internet usage, downloads, uploads, etc.... Bandwith basically is always being used. If you visit a site, you've used bandwith. Wanna chat online? You've used bandwith.
Bandwith is everything being done. As long as it's connected to the internet, it's using bandwith. As for disc space, when starting out, you wont need unlimited storage, though it's nice to find a company that can do all that in one bundle. Most subpages (pages on a website) are small in storage, like less than 1 mb per page.
disc space, unlike bandwith, is what you use and only what you use. Bandwith is how much data is being read at once. if someone visits, you're gonna need bandwith. But, some people say 1000 visits per month is equivalent to 8gb (depending on how much data is on your site. The longer they stay on, the more bandwith it's going to take). You'll need to calculate all this if you want the precise amount. But, you wont need more than 50gb bandwith if you're new. To save money, you can always raise it later.
But, I'd go for the unlimited bandwith and just go for lower disc space on your site. Blogger offers about 1gb in disc space and unlimited bandwith. Blogger is perfect if you're only planning on uploading pics and nothing else. You can have up to 100 blogs on Blogger. But if you're wanting to upload lots of videos and not using links to show your videos, then Blogger isn't what you want.
If you don't want a blog and just want a website, then x10hosting is the way to go. Free and unlimited (unless you want to be hosted on premium hosting). You really don't need the premium hosting to start off with. You can get most of what you want for free on there.
If you want blogs, then Infinity Free is the way to go, as they use "Kopage" (excellent beginner website with no cost). On Infinity Free there is a one time 75 dollar pro version if you want the pro version. But, you can do what you need with the free version to get yourself started.
Want to create a Search Engine or ecommerce? Yea, you're gonna need VPS or own some large servers, because the amount of data being used is ginormous. Even Go Daddy has a max limit (why call it unlimited then?). Yea, even with unlimited bandwith/disc space, there's still a maximum a user can do. Once they notice all that data being uploaded at once through multiple sources, they'll close your account in no time. That's why if you're wanting to create a huge business (not small business) based on ecommerce or even creating a search engine, you're gonna need huge amounts of data. VPS then is the way to go. Other than that, if you're not planning on being a new walmart or something bigger, you can just stick with what I listed above.
There are multiple sources and sites you can use. The best and cheapest way is if you have knowledge in CSS and HTML/XML coding. You could then upload your own website, though they'd charge you for how big your site was. If you own your own server that would be a great idea, But it would take too much time and work for someone that doesn't know coding. It's best to stick to site builders and get charged for what's done on there rather than how many pages you're uploading. Go Daddy is known for charging per page which can be 160 dollars or so (not the first year) based on how many pages you want hosted, using a .com. Most .com sites are expensive and can charge hundreds of dollars depending on what they offer and if it's paying all at once or not.
You don't need to start with a fancy .com just make sure you can get a domain. You can get some free domains out there that are top domains, but make sure the ones you use are the ones that can fit in on your site. I wouldn't use .tk because most .tk sites are phishing sites. You can get a free .ml site through freenom, but it's not gonna be easy (due to glitches when trying to register your domain). Eventually it'll go through. If you want a free site to start, you're gonna need free hosting and a free domain. If a subdomain is a short couple letters, it'll be good. Most people wont type in tons of stuff to enter a website. They want to enter shorter characters, so make sure your domain/subdomain is short.
Well, I hope I was of help. For those that want to see an example of a free site with no cost go here http://mofumoerevived.rf.gd That's my site which is new. I've been busy so I haven't had a lot of time on it. But, this was all done for free with web hosting and everything. I hope I was able to help people
Please remember to donate to my cause and help support my future for voice acting.
