Dear people all over the world,

I never thought about going this way in order to get myself money, but the current situation of my wife and me made me change my mind. I would like to tell you a little bit about our problem:

My wife and I (Oliver) married in November 2013. At that time, we (and our two cats, Sidney and Pippa) were living in a flat in a small town in Germany. Just a couple of weeks after our wedding my grandfather, who was suffering from a stroke, died. In April 2014 (once the sadness slowly started so subside) we had to decide what to do with my grandfather's house (my Grandfather had a construction company and built the house of his own), with "we" being my Grandfathe's three sons (one of them being my father)!

Problem was that my Grandfather, in order to rescue his already mentioned construction company, borrowed money from a local bank several years ago. So technically, his house belonged to the bank. Since my father and his two brothers had no intention do pay off the mortgage they were ready to leave it to the bank to sell the house.

Since I wasn't ready to give up on the house, and since my wife fell in love with it the first time she saw it, we started to talk to our own bank - aiming to get money to be able to pay off the mortgage and move into that very house (up to this point, we didn't even spent a single thought on owning our own house).

Long story short, in July 2014 we were given the money by our bank and we started to renovate the inside of the house in August (we were able to do most of the renovating on our own and with the help of various friend so it didn't took all that much money to get it done).

In October we (Eva; myself; Sidney and Pippa, who were about to get a new friend in our dog Coco) were happy to be FIRST TIME HOME OWNERS. But soon after that...

...problem after problem started to come up. First, our heating needed to be renewed, which took quite some money. Then we had a pipe burst and two flooded rooms (and no insurance at that point) and then, and this is what made me create this fundraiser, we had a house painter here to give us his opinion on the condition of our house walls. What he had to say was shocking to us:
Over the years (the house was built in 1964) the walls were affected by entrapped moisture and started to crumble (sorry if this is not the right word for what I want to tell you, but I am giving it my best shot when it comes to writing in English). The house painter told us the walls have to be restaurated as soon as possible, with the start being targeted for the End of April. (Of course) we asked him about the costs, and his answer was even more shocking then the news itself: 12.000 E (which is about 14.000 $). Now I certainly don't want that money to be completely funded (we do have some money left, after all), but there is no way for us to pay the price of 12.000 € on our own.

Therefore, we appreciate every donation (how big or small it may be) that helps us to keep my granfathers house and be able to raise our kids (which we one day hopefully will have) in the village where I have been raised so lovely.

Once the work on our house walls get started, I will reward every backer (who donates at least 10 $) with a picture of the ongoing work (and also staring either my wife, me, Sidney, Pippa or Coco ).

I will keep you up to date as far as all the planning etc. goes, I will make sure that your money is goint to be well donated.

In advance, thank you very much and take care!

All the best from Germany,

Eva and Olli
