House for Bassirou

Today is my birthday.  This morning I woke up in my soft bed.  When I wanted some water, I didn’t have to trek a mile down the road.  I just walked into the kitchen.  I am now watching it storm outside through my weather-proof windows while sitting in a comfortable chair, listening to music on my computer.  I am eternally grateful for all the comforts that I have, but not everyone is so fortunate.

My kids and I have sponsored two children through World Vision for the past seven years.  The boy, Bassirou, was born on the same day as my son, Jon-Paul.  Our sponsorship money goes to help Bassirou’s family benefit from all that World Vision is doing in their community, but over the years, we have been able to help Bassirou individually by buying him two sheep, clothes, and food.  I recently asked Bassirou if he and his family need anything specific.  His reply was, “A building and a faucet.”  After researching what he meant by that, I discovered that they are in need of a house.  Well, they call it a house.  We Americans would call it little more than a shed.  They are asking for a two room cement building.  They would also like to have a faucet so they can have water in their house.  After extensive research into what this would cost, I believe that $2000 would cover what they are asking for.  I would love to be able to provide this for Bassirou, his brother, his four sisters, and their parents. 

It would be the best birthday present ever if you would join me in raising the money for this house.  Any amount will help.  Thank you so very much for helping me with this.  I can’t wait to post pictures of Bassirou’s new house!  :)
