House building for my family

hi I'm 31 years old, have realised that most of th people spend the life time trying to build houses for their families which is wrong because when will you enjoy ur family if even month you spend your money trying to build and you don't even have enough money.

I have started a decent house a year ago. But if I calculate it wil take me years before I could finish it. That's why i need assistance.please help t build a house,community,nation.
