My Twin Warrior Fight To Survive

Update posted by Charlene Cequina On Jul 29, 2018

For 1 month and 4days of her life, we never got the chance to take her home. It was our running joke that my twin can be a stock holder of CDH with all the bills we accumulated during there hospital stays. But our journey was never a joke. There were times we cry: because of frustration, fear, and hopelessness. We asked God, why? Why us? Why my twin? Why Auburn? But in spite the challenges, there were positive ones: he was exubated for one week without experiencing Apnea. She loved holding my finger everytime I’m touching her. She was gentle, she was brave. The bravest girl ever.

Financial issues piled up, but we were so fortunate that so many people helped us: family who supported us, friends who were there from day 1, some we even haven't talked in a long time but came through the minute they knew about our predicament. With all the challenges we were facing, we were still blessed to have good samaritans in our lives. We will be forever grateful to them, that they were able to lengthen my Twin’s life.

When Auburn passed away, no words can describe how we felt that day. It was as if the world stopped spinning. We were there when he took his last breath. I carried his body from CDH to St. Peter Chapel to fix her burial. She will always be with us, and us with her.

My twin were a warriors. Everyday, two of them fought for their life. Unfortunately Auburn didn’t make it. Last June 18, around 7:10pm she passed away, due to severe infection on her lungs. While Riley need to undergo in a Major Operation which is Intraoperative Cholangiogram and Liver Biopsy. And need to Laser her both eyes because she has a ROP (Retinopathy Of Prematurity) to save her vision. Unfortunately we don’t have enough funds for the said procedures. And the hospital bill of my twin reached more than 2million pesos. Are money is only enough for the medicine and medical supplies needed.

I’m knocking at your heart asking for any help. Please help us. Please help me to save my other baby. I can’t afford to lose Riley too. Please help us.

As of now she is still continue fighting to be with us normally. CAN YOU PLEASE EXTEND YOUR LOVE AND HELPING HANDS TO US?

We are knocking on your good heart to extend your help for us by donating any amount that can help to lessen the rising hospital bills. No amount is too small.

And if you could also share this to your friends who can help on giving.

You can also give your support thru prayers for baby Riley. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»

"The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is the same spirit that gives life to our mortal bodies." Romans 8:11

Baby Riley is a testimony of the Lord to everyone around her. We are fighting the good fight of faith and will not throw away our confidence because we know it'll be richly rewarded.

Please help and support Baby Riley financially during this time so that she can spend more bright mornings with us, we would be so grateful. Thank you to those of you who are praying and standing in faith alongside with my family. It is very valuable to us. πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

On 18th day of June at 7:10pm heaven gained another angel. I lost Auburn. Her heart stopped beating. All her Doctors tried to revive her for more than 40minutes, but she was to pale to fight. Maybe God saw her getting tired. And the cure was not enough. With tearful eyes we watched and saw her passed away. I love her so much. We loved her so much but we couldn’t make her stay. Her golden heart stop beating and her hand was now at rest. Although God broke our heart but I know he only wants to prove to us that he only take the best for my Baby Auburn.

Writing this still makes me cry, I can't believe it was true. I still don't know how we are here, talking about her death when we should be enjoying her days in the world. I am still heartbroken, still in pain. An inevitable part of all this was organising a funeral. Every death is tragic, every funeral was sad. But it somehow seems even more cruel to organise one for my own Baby, who never had the chance to experience life like a child playing outside.

I am still raising funds, we really need help to cover the costs of her hospital bill. My Twin’s hospital bill reached as much as more than we can afford. (1.9million pesos)

Everyone has been so kind and asked again and again how they can help. Even though things did not turn out the way we had hoped, we are still doing our very best for her and for her twin sister Baby Riley who are still admitted at NICU. Baby Riley is now doing very well. Her feeding was stable. Her condition was still stable for the past 1 week.

Thanks for taking the time to read and to help us with this.

This is the first time I’m going to post pictures/videos of My Twin. I just want everyone to know how proud I am that I’m a mother of TWO WARRIORS. πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘ So proud of how they made an incredible progress each day. And how they made it this far. My Angels turned a month old today!

I will say that the first month in NICU has been filled with emotions but has flown by! 😊😊 Reminding myself that I am My Twin only advocate that helps me with a lot of issues. Never be afraid to ask questions, express concerns or have a good crying session. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Our main goals this month for Auburn is matanggal ung mucus thingy na sinasabi nilang nasa stomach niya kaya di siya maka feed ng dere-derecho kase lumalaki ang tyan nya, gain some weight, strengthen her lungs, matolerate na niya ung feeding niya and matanggal na ulit ung tubo niya πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ» She’s doing very well! πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ» Nag papabebe lang πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

For Riley, our main goals is to gain more weight, to put her on crib na πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡ and continue increasing her breastmilk volume (already reached 1oz every 2hours😍)! ✨ Tanggal na ung cannula nya πŸ’• She can breath on her own without any help of oxygen for almost 1week 😍😍 She’s doing very well too! πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ» Siga to e. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

And lastly, our main goal for both them is, maging negative na lahat ng results sa mga laboratories and magiging laboratories pa nila, gumaling na sila ng tuluyan and to take them home healthy πŸ’•πŸ˜πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘§πŸ»

Please send positive vibes and prayers for My Twin πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘§πŸ»

My twin is still staying in a special nursery unit - the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) - at the hospital for 29days. How long will they be staying there? Only GOD knows!

Since they are not in their normal environment (my womb), they will need all the medical care and attention for them to cope outside my womb. Everyday is a battle for My Twin.

My Twin are fighters! They are showing a lot of progress everyday. Riley can now breathe on her own, She can now consume donated breast milk, 20ml every 2 hours. She opens her eyes & can grip my finger. She was so active.

Auburn is now on Ventilator Machine (Previously using respirator directed to her lungs) she can breathe on her own with a little help of oxygen. She’s still can’t absorb a high volume of breastmilk because of her tummy. There will be several tests along the way and we are staying positive & trusting our Brave Twin to continue fighting until we are permitted to go home with them.

Being so delicate, preemie babies stay in the hospital for almost a month, depending on their health progress. There will be tests almost everyday to make sure that there are no infections & complications. My Twin hospital bill after 29 days at NICU almost reach more than a million pesos. If she needs to stay at NICU for a month or so..... I will let you do the math.

My Twin fights for their life. We want our twin to live and be with us as soon as possible. I want to read them a stories that they wants me to read. Her Daddy wants to carry them, sing, dance & play with them. My dear friends, colleagues, relatives, and those who are reading this, we are knocking at your good heart to help us in this trial. Our family needs your help. We would appreciate any amount and forever be grateful for any help that we could get from you. Thank you all & GOD bless you!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, β€œplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11
