My name is Cate Nathania Balino Cabanero of Iloilo, Philippines. I was born to Caryl Lou Cabanero and Nona Balino on 14 December, 2019. My parents celebrated the saddest Christmas because I had to stay in the hospital for 12 days after birth due to meconium aspiration syndrome. On 3 January, 2020, my parents took me back to the hospital for my first well-baby checkup and it was found out that I am suffering from severe colitis. Immediately after, the doctors had me undergone several tests such as abdominal x-ray, blood culture, and barium instillation to check the severity of my health condition. More tests were conducted and the doctors then diagnosed me with Hirschsprung Disease, a congenital disorder that affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems with passing stool. Since then, I have been hospitalized at Iloilo Doctors' Hospital. To make the situation worse, I acquired urinary tract infection as a complication of my current health problem. My father who is a laborer had to quit his job to look after me in the hospital as my mother is still recovering from childbirth. Apparently, my health condition has caused my mother to suffer from postpartum blues. The doctors advised surgery as the treatment to bypass the part of my colon that lacks nerve cells. As my family still faces financial difficulties, my parents despair over my medical condition and deferred operation. I am appealing for your generous assistance so I can push through with my surgery. Please alleviate my suffering. Any amount will go a long way and we will wholeheartedly appreciate. God bless.
