My name is Pichakol Choophak, I am the owner of Phuket Andaman Horse Riding located in Phuket, Thailand and here is my crazy but achievable project :
First of all, I would like to inform you that our club is unlike any other in Phuket, we are the first riding school in Phuket with the know-how of French riding schools!
Our projects :
- Rescue of injured and abused horses in Thailand.
- Work with disadvantaged children to teach them horsemanship.
- Working with people with disabilities.
We will need some help to make these projects happen, because unlike the other equestrian centers in Phuket, we will not be working in tourism, so we do not have the budget to get them right.
Your support will help us greatly to develop these projects which will make the daily life of some more pleasant to live.
What we need:
Our projects are very ambitious, we will offer a free service to disadvantaged children and disabled people with the help of Thai schools and hospitals in parallel of the basic lessons that we will give to our licensees, which means that we will have no funds coming from the hours devoted to our projects. We therefore set a financing target of € 20,000.
This amount will be used exclusively to feed the horses over a period of 1 year (during project days / hours), upgrade our structures and make them suitable for people with disabilities, employ more staff and train them to manage children , Fund events and travel for children, upgrade our equipment and fund the care of abused horses.
We are of course aware that these projects will not definitely change their lives, but they will change their daily lives and make them more enjoyable to live.
Risks and challenges:
To carry out all this, we have the help of a rider and teacher of French equitation who will be a volunteer for these projects, unfortunately to be in order with the Thai regulations that do not recognize the volunteering of a foreigner, we have to pay a work permit which is very (very) expensive, and our money entries from customers will not suffice despite our collaboration with the International School of Phuket, the British International School (BIS) .
The horse rescue project is also very important for us, we must imperatively do something against this abuse in Thailand and especially in Phuket. Indeed, the island suffers from the "slavery" of animals such as elephants and horses which serve completely as "tourist machines", most of the local population and tourists often forget that they are animals and not Objects, we do not point out tourism at all, the structures that do not raise them as they should (animals under-nourishes, beaten, untreated wounds etc.).
In case our objective is not met, we will use these funds to finance one of these projects and not all of them unfortunately.
Obviously if you are passing on the island, we invite you to visit us and to learn to know us.
Other ways to help:
Talk around you, tell your family about the mistreatment of animals in Thailand, before going on a horse or elephant ride, find out about their state of health and living conditions, and the same for shows .
Do not hesitate to share our work and our projects around you.
Please remember, we have to learn to know the difference between an animal that works in bad conditions and an animal that works in a pleasant place of life.
