HORNS ON THE WOMAN

A documentary film about the sex industry in Spain, demand and exploitation.

Spain is a known hub for sex trafficking and both a destination and a trafficking route.

We reveal why Spain has the greatest demand for paid sex in Europe and the highest amount of trafficking victims, it’s weak laws, why a youth market now looks to prostitution as a leisure activity and why the public are reluctant to let go of any of their civil liberties post Franco, even if it means sacrificing the human rights of others. We meet the groups and individuals that work tirelessly within the shadows to spark change and improve the lives of others. They are not the usual public faces and operate within complex systems fraught with corruption and exploitation.

Spain is being touted as the ‘brothel of Europe’ and its roadside brothels, open highways, clandestine apartments are populated with mostly young immigrant women. Spain needs a huge change, awareness, education and concrete changes to their laws that will stick. We follow this conversation, and reveal the full scale of the problem in Spain, and find those that wish to share solutions to an argument that has left feminism divided and criminal networks profiting from Spain's weak laws and lack of unity.

We know documentary films have become an integral part of social change. They can illuminate social injustices and tragedies in remote parts of the world or our own neighbourhoods. Documentaries can be catalysts for change they can influence and build movements this is our aim with Horns On The Woman.
