Greetings. I beg of you to read my story. I don't necessarily want everyone to contribute with money, so if you just could send wishes our way I'd be more than grateful.

I live in Greece, and I am currently travelling to and from my University which is 3 hours from my home. About the tickets, I spend 15 euros come and go for a single day. I have been renting since last year but now, things are being somewhat tight and many issues, as of which the most important are the medical ones, have arose and we've been living with borrowed money from relatives and friends. Meanwhile, I have been struggling to get a job near the areas of my Uni, because all potential jobs are taken. Now that things have come to this, I am struggling to stay in Uni as my parents are making ends meet to fund me every week for at least 1 route to Uni so I don't miss the obligatory lessons. We are slowly being driven to unrenting the apartment I used to live in. We are hoping till the end of the year for a change but if that doesn't occur, we will definitely unrent and do what we can to pay 2 at that time months of rent worth.

On the other hand, when I was much younger, about the age of 8 to 9 years old (I'm 19 now), my father had lung cancer, due to smoking which he managed to come through. I remember that time well, my father had shaved his head so that the chemotherapy reprecussions wouldn't be so striking. At that time, he called this change of shaving his head a ''small change for a little while''. I didn't know of this until last year (almost 1 and a half years now), that's when my mother decided to tell me because she was afraid that it might come back.

For a couple of years now, my father has had issues with his job (he has been working in various shipping companies for many years now as the 1st mechanic). His boss was a fraud, and has been stealing money from his employees for many years. Once he hadn't payed my father as well as many other employees for more than 3 months, they took it to court and he now owes to our family as well as many others a lot of money, but it isn't sure if we'll ever get that money of a portion of it as the case has been halted. In other words, the fact that companies like these don't really hire anymore and also because my father is fairly old, 62 years old soon, despite his knowledge and experience he is not the most wanted employee just because age plays a big role. This, and also the fact that some of his past co-workers have been going out of their way to gain a promotion and have the upper hand over my father (unfortunately this is employment).

Returning to the medical side of things, my father has been a heavy smoker for years now, but he has been smoking from 15 years old as he says. He has been coughing for as long as I can remember but lately, about 5 months ago, his coughing got worse and worse and there was even a wheezy sound. My father went to get checked up and it came up fairly similar to COPD, or else Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which is an ailment that comes from smoking. It must have been due to his medical history that my father was also prompted to do other types of examinations, like bronchoscopy and other kinds which I do not really recall.

About a month or so prior today, my Dad was confirmed to have a lung cancer again. On the last day of his examinations, as soon as he and my mom returned home, I sat down and asked him to tell me what the doctor told him about the severity of the cancer. Although he doesn't like these type of conversations and he tends to sugar coat his sayings, my mom nagged and said that I should know since I am not a small child anymore. Afterwards, my father told me that it was a difficult form of cancer and he had to make some effort if he wants to fight back. He still smokes, but since things are economically tight my mom (who has control over her smoking tendencies unlike my dad) is the one to give him a fixed amount of cigarettes throughout the day. Sometimes he acts dumbs and says he lost this or that (cigarette wise always...) and me and my mom will scold him for not trying and all. Eventually he pouts as if he is some kind of child and forget about it. He mostly spends his day sleeping in order to avoid smoking, which is a partial solution.

This is all that has been going on in my family for a while now. Forgive my weird English at some points but, it isn't my first language and of course there will be mistakes, but I hope I conveyed this message to you. Thanks to everyone who read this far. I will have no words to express my gratitude to anyone who is willing to help but even if you don't plan to, I'd also appreciate wishes for my father's well being.

Cordially,

Vash.
