Hope

Hi my name is Taylor Olson. I attend Dalhousie University doing my undergrad in Theatre with one year left and am planning to take my Bachelor of Education at Mt. St. Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have a month old daughter named Hope and am looking for support in my education so that I can support my family while getting my education. I plan to be a High School Drama Teacher so that I can open up opportunities for youth to express themselves in a safe and creative environment. My ultimate goal is to start a community theatre while teaching so that youth can participate in projects they can be proud of. Each year I need between 7,000-8,000 dollars to pay for tuition and books. Any support I can get goes towards this so that I can continue support my daughter while pursuing my education. If I do not reach my goal, any amount will go towards my tuition and help enormously. I believe as a teacher I will be able to make a positive impact on the community and will inspire young minds.

I have been involved with theatre for a while now and know the impact it can have on peoples lives. In 2010 I performed with a group in Quesnel, B.C. in Canada called Youth Entertaining for Services and we raised money for suicide prevention. In 2011 my friends and I brought awareness to the Holocaust survivors with a show called The March put on by the Dalhousie Theatre Society and in 2012 we did the same for Rwanda Genocide survivors in a show called The Men Who Killed Me raising funds for survivors through the Stephen Lewis foundation. As a Drama teacher I could help youth impact the world around them and show them that they can make a difference.
