HOPE Network

The HOPE Network was founded in August 2015 by Hannah Milward (New Zealand) and Phil Crocker (Australia) in an effort to link health students and professionals with humanitarian work across the globe.

The HOPE Network is dedicated to creating connections that link dynamic health students and professionals with humanitarian and community health groups across the globe. Our aim is to build relationships with organisations that are interested in working with tertiary students from New Zealand, Australia and other ‘developed’ nations.

Through these relationships with charity groups, we believe that students wanting to experience something different will be provided with valuable, safe and appropriate learning placements while providing much needed health care to poorer communities around the world. Upon arrival support will be available, work supervised and accommodation will be either onsite, hostel style budget lodgings or with host families.

We are partnering with some of the leading health and wellness 'higher education’ providers in Australia and New Zealand to help us promote our program to potential health and wellness students whom might be interested in joining us in 2016 and experiences something that's 'outside the box’

Currently we are on the group in Nepal and working closely with several humanitarian and community health groups including the Mountain Heart Nepal organisation (a multidisciplinary team affiliated with the WHO and the UN), the HDSN group to provide medical and dental help to outreach camps in remote areas and will also be working with the Namo Buddha Monastery . We are building relationships in Nepal to help us facilitate our future students and we also aim to be in Cambodia by the years end.

We are looking at taking groups of up to 25 students 4 to 6 weeks to work with humanitarian and community health groups in 2016. As we are non funded the cost of the trips will fall on us and more specifically the students whom wish to join us. We will be running fund raisers leading up to our departure dates but we are also looking for donations to help fund our efforts in anyway shape or form.
