Hope Initiative Ministries

Hope Initiative Ministries (H.I.M.) is a child advocate non governmental registered organization in Uganda. H.I.M. began in the Bugiri district operating out of the Ndeeba Baptist Church with a centre now in the capital, Kampala.

Visionary Leaders

Co founders Vicent Efumbi and Chris Ngolobe each grew up in abject poverty but also know the blessing of having received child sponsorship. Their vision and passion for H.I.M. is to pass that blessing on to others. In addition to this, their professional training and long term experience working with child sponsorship provides strong leadership and hope to the communities they serve.

Personal Mentoring

The mission focus of H.I.M. extends beyond providing basic health and education needs (which are not supplied by the government) to an individual mentoring programme. This mentoring programme seeks to come alongside each child and mentor them in spiritual, physical, leadership and economic development. The vision is to see children mentored to become Christ's change agents for the transformation of nations. The age range focuse is children between 6 to 25.

Child Sponsorship

There are currently over 500 registered children. Many of these are orphaned and have been abused.

Of Uganda's 34.5 million people, about 23.1 million are prone to poverty, and about 8.4 million of them (about 24.5%) are trapped in absolute poverty. Lack of education and health lead to poverty, sickness, abuse and death. Uganda has about 10,000 street children many of them in the capital Kampala. These children are paritcularly vulnerable to child trafficking and the sex and drug trade. They need your help.

Community Projects

H.I.M. have a number of community projects operating to help empower local communities to provide for themselves and their children. These projects are: (1) Freedom Centers which are the local base of operation out of which are run weekend and holiday programmes (2) Poultry project is set up to generate income to provide for children's basic needs and help overcome poverty (3) a Food Store provides quality goods at a fair price as well as generates funds for Freedom Centers (4) created for orphans the Nursery and Primary has five classrooms and a dormitory (5) the Children's Savings and Credit Network helps provide for unexpected as well as long term financial needs and (6) the Computer Literacy programme helps prepare children with skills that will be essential in to day's world.
