Hi, my name is Adriana. I am an only sister with 3 brothers and two amazing parents whom are Richard and Michele. Originally it started when my biological dad left us all. My 2 brothers and I were 7 years old and seeing our dad leave us was not only completely heartbreaking but it was very confusing as well. My mom wanted us to have a dad and ua few years after, this amazing man Richard (my dad) came into our lives. He wanted to take care of us and treat us like we were his own. He worked so hard and provided for me and the rest of the family. In 2013, they married and shortly thereafter my little brother was born. After my new brother was born, in November of the year 2017, my father legally adopted me and my two brothers. One day at work in 2014, his head hit an iron (I) beam. My mom had to pick up me and my brothers from school and take us to the hospital as he was rushed out on a stretcher and taken to the hospital right away. In 2015, my father underwent a level 4 cervical spinal fusion surgery and never fully recovered and was no longer able to work and provide for the family. In November of 2018, my dad applied for social security disability which he payed into for over 25 years. He was then denied twice. Then after that option failed we relied on my retired elderly grandparents who helped us survive. This was very hard on my grandparents as they live on a fixed income and not to mention my grandmother is sick as well. I can literally write a book about this story but to make a long story short I will cut to the chase. Fast forward to the spring of 2018, upon my dad going for a regular physical exam and blood work it was determined that he has a autoimmune disease possibly lupus but the doctors have determined at this time that they don’t know which autoimmune disease he has. Since then his health has declined rather quickly. In February of 2019, my father who was able to walk on his own 2 feet can now no longer walk without the use of his walker at home which then became a wheelchair. Also he can not drive due peripheral neuropathy of his whole body and also he has severe carpal tunnel syndrome (which requires surgery), liver disease (non alcoholic), obstructive sleep apnea which he uses a cpap machine minimally used 5 hours a night, kidney stones/ cysts, osteoarthritis, bulging discs/ disc herniation in his back, chronic pain, spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, Barrett’s esophagus, celiac disease, bronchial asthma, pulmonary nodules in his lungs to (which he just got over pneumonia), muscle spasms, and swollen lymph nodes. There may be a few things I’m forgetting. As you can see my father is very sick and the dr has told him and us that unfortunately he will not get better as his biggest problems are incurable and lifelong. He can no longer care for himself or the family he once did. My mom is his caretaker. Just a little background about my father... Prior to my dad marrying my mom, he didn’t miss one day of work and a job he took pride in working at the veterans hospital helping installing communication systems was taken from him due to the huge tragedy I mentioned above. My parents are still in a battle with social security disability and have to wait another two years from today to have his day in court. I don’t understand how all the other people coming into the country are able to get social security but meanwhile my dad can’t. My grandparents have reached their limit as far as helping us any longer and we are desperate for help. Those people who believe in the power of prayer, please pray for us. Please help us if you can any donation will help. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
