After a diagnosis of breast cancer, people often start to wonder about their prognosis. But they vary in how much information they want. Some would rather not ask while others want to know as much as possible.Prognosis is estimated by looking at what happened to people in similar situations treated a few years ago, but every case is unique and no one can say for certain what will happen to you. Also, survival rates are constantly improving, affecting the accuracy of estimates about people being treated today.Treatment for breast cancer will be successful for many people, and the risk of breast cancer coming back gets less as the years pass after diagnosis. But, because breast cancer can return many years later, no one can say that you are definitely cured.
