The HOPE and HAVEN 4-PAW ANIMAL RESCUE is a non-profit organization/no kill shelter that caters the needs of rescues and stray in Region 8, Philippines. We seeking for your help and partnership with the programs we would like to be implemented in our country, initially in our region, in protecting the strays.

At the present, 2 volunteers offered to share their vacant lots for the rescued dogs. However, these cat and dog shelters are not yet registered since we would still need a lot of things to do in preparation for the supposed operation. We are all individual volunteers who want to make a difference in the treatment of mongrels. With this, we would like to ask for your partnership in making this project a fruitful one. Our main concerns are as follows:

1. As much as we would like to finance the shelters on our own, it will be too overwhelming to give the basic needs of the rescues especially with the daily transfer of impounded dogs. The estimated number is at 400/month. With only 4 volunteers, we cannot finance all these and sustenance is very much a must in dealing with this advocacy. These dogs need basic needs, such as, water, food, vitamins, proper shelter, vettings and others.

2. Free spay and neuter , and anti-rabies, cannot be fully supported by the government due to "lack of funds". Though neuter is offered at certain times, it is not enough of an effort to reduce the number of stray dogs. Spaying is not offered though since the operation is said to be costly. Anti-rabies is with a fee of about $1. If we can have a joint project, we might be able to conduct these much needed procedures to be able to control the number of produced litter at a certain point in time.

3. Our organization believes that the owners, not the dogs, are supposed to be punished on the endless cases of strays. The ordinance only imposes penalty on those who can afford to take their dogs back from the pound. Others just apply the dispose-replace mentality, wherein taking them back would cost them much so it'll be better for them to surrender them to the pound and get new dogs. We believe that educating and imposing the national law on animal welfare is a must. But this is a huge project the requires the attention of the government officials. We need your help in achieving this program.

We would greatly appreciate it if you lend us a hand since we are overwhelmed the number of rescues that will be transferred to our shelters everyday (20-50 dogs). Your generous help would be greatly appreciated. Our aim is to spread this advocacy all over the country. It may be too much to ask for but in small steps, we can make it happen.

Your generosity will help us be the VOICE OF THE VOICELESS, the HELP OF THE HELPLESS, and the HOPE OF THE HOPELESS. These animals, irregardless of breed, deserve to be given the love and care they deserve. Help us give them a second chance. Help us find their fur-ever homes.
