Hi! My name is Katherine. My husband Joel and I will be celebrating our 7-year wedding anniversary on May 10, 2015. When we got married, we decided to do just a weekend trip in a little bed and breakfast because we had both started new jobs and could not get a full week for our honeymoon. Then started the tale of "we will do it next year". Last year, we finally got everything together. We had the money, the time and everything was looking great. Just before we book our trip, in April of 2014, I got hospitalized for severe gallbladder infection. What looked like a benign surgery changed my vision of life. After two days of intense pain, the doctors finally discovered my liver, pancreas and gallbladder were all filled with stones. I had to be rushed to a bigger hospital to get a special operation. Once I was back, the pain was still intense. They soon discovered I had a pneumonia and a sepsis. They told my husband I was probably not going to make it. Nonetheless, I managed to fight thinking of my husband and my little 12-month-old baby girl. I was discharged a week after that. A few days passed and I was readmitted at the hospital with a new sepsis. For a second time, the doctors were sure I was not going to make it. I have been in the hospital for a whole month, and now I am still weak, but I am back on my feet. In the meantime, we purchased our first home, thinking it was going to be a new happy chapter in our life. After a few weeks, we realized the house was under really bad shape and we had to put an extra $30,000.00, just to be able to live in it. We are still debating if we will sell the house because of the all the financial trouble it caused. To complete our story, my husband was recently diagnosed with bipolar disease, severe anxiety disorder and major depression. So now, for our 7th wedding anniversary, my biggest wish would be to finally have our honeymoon, the one we have been dreaming of for a long time and never got to make, because we always thought we would "do it next year". I know for a fact that you never know what life will bring you and I really want to be able to give this gift to my husband, for all the support he gave to our daughter and myself through rough times, even if he was also in a lot of pain and never said a word. Thank you for reading my story and thanks for those who will help us realize our dreams.
