Honeymoon after 9 years :)
My husband and I have been married for nine years this January. Like many couples we struggle financially in this economy. Not only have we struggled financially but also struggled through health issues. Several years ago my husband fell during a volleyball game and tore out several ligaments in his leg. After following the doctors advice and resting, Steven began having severe leg pain to the point he was in tears trying to get up to use the restroom. Later tests would find that he had developed a blood clot in his calf. While being treated with blood thiners, the clot dislodged and went into his lung, nearly killing him. I cannot tell you how thankful I am thta he survived this. 90% of the time this is a death sentence. He spent weeks in intensive care and was released. This was only the beginning of his struggles with legs and the damage the clot caused him. His leg was locked straight for over a year because they could not operate on someone that was on blood thiners and was at such a high risk for futher clots. After a year the surgery was done and physical therapy began. It took over two years for Steven to be able to walk with some normalcy. Now years after we are still searching for answers on how to relieve the pain that he struggles with daily. The damage caused by all of this has not only been physical but mental. A man that worked from the age of 8 with his father at a fish hatchery in Alaska, paid his way through college and was determined in life and his goals is now empty and has lost so much hope. He works several small jobs and volunteers with kids coaching volleyball. He cannot be on his leg for long and that causes issues with him finding work and he struggles with being able to support his 4 boys and I.
For my husband, I would like to give him a vacation for the two of us. My family is what is important to me. While I wish we had more money, I see all the great things that god has given to us. Including another chance at life for my husband. I appreciate any donation towards this vacation for us.
