Hello friends, I am Joe and I've created this fundraiser on behalf of my grandparents (aged 77 and 73). They've been married for over 55 years and for this past year they've been in a battle for their home which was stolen from them. They were forced to leave the place they lived in all their lives along with their son, his wife and 2 kids. They are facing many difficulties, medical, financial and safety.

After being forced to leave their home they found a place that would allow all of them to live but with a huge amount of rent, lights and water separately. This place is located in one of the most dangerous parts of the country as you can see in the picture below. Kids can be kidnapped and sold, people can be murdered. It's far from hospitals and police stations. It's also a Covid 19 virus hotspot and with the new variant in South Africa and medical experts not knowing much about it, this just makes living here more dangerous as the virus is now spreading and killing people rapidly.

With the rent being $250 per month and water and lights at $120 per month, there isn't enough money to pay for that let alone buy food or pay for medical expenses. This place often has blackouts and the water gets cut, making it easy for other people to just walk in and out the house. My granddad has had a heart attack and is living with a pacemaker, and my grandmum has asthma and light dementia so they need frequent visits to the hospital. The son has a medical condition making him unable to work. They are doing the best they can with the little money they collect from government. My parents and I are doing the best we can to help with rent and food, but it's still not enough. During the lockdown I've also lost my job, making things even more difficult.

This is their story, It was 1955 when my granddad and his siblings (5 brothers and 1 sister) got together and paid for the home and since they were poor everyone had to contribute. When they made payment, only 1 persons name could go on the deed as the owner and so they all decided that it should be the eldest brother. Over the years the siblings passed away except for the eldest brother that never married and the 2nd brother(my granddad).

In 2019 the eldest brother passed away at the age of 77 , making the next sibling that is my granddad the owner of the house. A few months later a lady comes along with a lawyer and will stating that the eldest brother has put the house onto her name making her the new owner and also claiming that she's his daughter. Shocked at this development we opened a case saying that the will is fake but it didn't go far as the will was made in a bank. We approached many lawyers but none of them were able to help us. She continued to harass my family and threatened them with lawyers and eviction letters until they were forced out of their home

My goal is to raise funds which will go towards providing food, clean water, medicine and a safe place to live in for now.

Please help me reach my goal by donating whatever you can to help make this project a success.

Thank you for your time and contributions. May God bless you and your family.
