Homeward Bound for a Wedding

-Canadian living in New Zealand for almost 2 years now.

-Best friend is getting married in September and want to go home.

-Trying to get permanent residency here in NZ so I can stay with my Kiwi partner.

I come from a poor family who have never believed in me and my travelling. They have made fun of me, told me I am ruining the family by travelling and have never supported my want to move countries. I have worked very hard for all my experiences. My family and I aren't on speaking terms and I have legally changed my last name as I don't belong. My best friend and her soon to be husband are my best friends and my family as far I am concerned. They have loved and supported me through a lot of hardships and my travels. This is one time I need to ask for help as I can't do everything on my own. I struggle to ask for help as I have been burnt many many times. My friends seem to think this might just be the best way to get me home for a visit and teach me the value of community.

I love my friends(all of them) very much and want to get home to see my "family". I want to be a part of their magical day and I want to finally get the chance to introduce them to my boyfriend that I have been seeing for almost 2 years. I don't want to miss doing either; however, I have money only for one. Having missed weddings, births and other major life events, I want to go for home for 2 weeks and still get permanent residency.
