Homeless Family Needs A Little Help

My name is Sylis Bracy. I have a wife, Michele, and two children, Xavier (16) & Kairi (8). As you may or may not know, our family has fallen on some pretty tough times. We are currently homeless and vehicle-less and could really use a hand. We do not receive nor are we eligible to receive any state assistance or welfare. We are trying to raise funds to pay the down payment/deposit for a home and to purchase at least one good running vehicle.

In February 2018, we left the apartment we had been in for nearly 3 years due to the fact that the state of disrepair the unit had fallen into had become a health hazard. Our landlord continually dodged calls and messages regarding the situation and would only make small improvements when court ordered. In February, with several available rentals showing online and a strong savings account, Michele and I decided to take the children to a cleaner temporary environment (hotel) until we could find our ideal new home. As anyone who’s been on vacation is aware, hotels can be very affordable...for a short period of time. After completing our move, my wife and I began our hunt for a new home. Everything that was available two weeks prior was nowhere to be found. We didn’t lose hope. We kept checking listings every day. The days turned to weeks, then months, and our once strong savings account quickly began to dwindle. We are currently in a tent at a campground as it was a much cheaper option than the hotel during the summer months. However a few weeks ago misfortune struck again. Both of our vehicles became permanently disabled, Michele’s first and mine a few days later. My father has been gracious enough to let us temporarily use his vehicle, but we can’t use it forever. With our savings account still non-existent we now have to figure out how to save the money for a home and a vehicle quickly. Nights are getting cold in the tent and my dad needs his vehicle back.
