Unfortunately our current rental accomodation has been set to be renovated after almost two years of negligence, my landlord has ignored the safety & health concerns of myself and my daughter, who is currently nineteen years old (15 when we first moved, our previous rental housing was sold).
My daughters bedroom had continued to grow black mould including along the upper wall and corners, immediately I notified the property manager from our real estate company of this problem, who would then pass that information along to the landlord.
Shockingly we heard nothing back from our landlord other than to clean it, black mould in our home was not a issue that could be fixed from just washing it away, as it was an underlying issue inside the walls, also due to zero insulation & heating.
This further went on for almost two years until she (our landlord) finally hired someone to install insulation to the house in mid 2019, mind you we have been here since January of 2017.
My daughter has since been in and out of hospital for months now due to respiratory problems caused from the mould inside her room, we both were almost put into debt at this stage and could not find any other rentals due to the housing shortage in our area.
On the 30th of November 2020, I was given 21 days notice to move out because the home will be undergoing extensive renovations and we can’t stay here while that happens.
Both my current landlord and rental company she’s under, have failed to find us a new rental property, I’ve tried very hard to find a new place that fits in my budget but have been severely unsuccessful.
We’ve been given a short extension to find a new home or be sent to tribunal courts and be evicted, I desperately fear for my daughters further wellness if we were to end up homeless.
