Campaign Story
Hi All I am trying to raise money for my mother-in-law who has 3 young children a 10 year old girl and twin 9 year old boys one of which (jake) was born with fluid on the brain causing brain damage which has caused learning difficulties and behavour problems and struggles with day to day life activities and has to live by a set routine.
she also has her eldest son 22 living with her to help with the care of the children, they currently live in a three bedroom house and are very cramped as both the twin boys are sharing a room but due to jakes disability needs his own room and own space and as the children are getting older there is a larger need for an extra room.
i am trying to raise money to help fund the build of a granny flat type building for the eldest son to move into this giving the extra room for the family as he is currently living in what should be the dinning room and also as jake will never be able to live alone jake will be able to live once the eldest son has eventually moved out.
she has been to see the disability team at our local council to see what type of help they could provide all that was able to offer was to move the family to a bigger house and no extension or additional room to be added to the house but the family is happy living where they are and would be a massive problem for jake to change his routine and move to anywhere there is a 4 bedroom house available.
for anyone or any family a move is stressfull and hard work but for anyone with a child that has a mental disability you would know how much a little change can affect the child never mind a big change like moving to a different area, but as this is the only choice my mother in law has for jake and the family to live a better life they have no option other than to move.
two years ago whilst the family was on holiday the house got broken into they took everything from t.v's and games consoles and the family car, the insurance company deemed the brake in unacceptable to pay out on due to them not having to brake back out of the house and as a result the family had to replace everything them selfes which has caused debt. It took nearly a year to convince jake that they was safe and these people would not be coming back and he his safe in his own home.
i hope this is enough details for you and any donations would be hugely helpful and we would be most grateful.
