Home For Ruperta & Relief for Kabankalan

We are raising funds for our Auntie in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines—Auntie Ruperta Repedro-Ureta or "Auntie Intsik" as we all call her. Their house collapsed after the strong wind and flood because of Typhoon Odette/Rai last December 16-17, 2021. They were left with some salvageable items like mudded clothes, cooking pan, broken chair and the “trapal”/tarpaulin which they used as wall and ceiling covering in their temporary shelter. We were able to raise around 35,000.00 pesos by sharing their situation with our family and friends in the Philippines and overseas. But to build a house (half concrete with bedroom and toilet+ bath), might take roughly 150-180k pesos (between $3,000 -3,600 US) including labour, power and water connection and basic furniture like bed, table and chairs- or even more as building materials are getting expensive. We badly need your help..

We are very hopeful that a crowdfunding campaign could help them reach the amount needed so they could buy necessary materials, have the work started, be able to live in a house that could stand strong wind and rain/flood, a safe and secured place especially for the three small children under their care, that it will give them hope and a brighter start this new year..

Sadly, our Auntie is just one of the hundreds or thousands of people/family who were badly affected by typhoon Odette in the whole Philippines. Hence, we will also be giving relief goods around the community in Kabankalan. Fifty percent of the money we raise in this campaign will be spent for relief goods like water, rice and canned goods. This will greatly help them as they try to get up again from that devastating typhoon.

By sharing, reacting or commenting on our social media posts, you will tremendously help boost the campaign- it will mean a lot. If you are called to help financially, whether that is 1 peso/ 1cent or 100 pesos/ 2 dollars, know that every cents of that matters to the recipients. P.S: While I was waiting for the campaign to be approved/to be live, the family also received another P30,000.00. Which means we were able to raise around 65,000.00 by sharing their situation with family and friends. This enabled them to start the work on the first week of January straight away. I will post an update soon!
