ABOUT US:
The founder population of all Southern white rhino in the world is now under threat as the main target of poachers has shifted from Kruger National Park to Hluhluwe – Imfolozi Game Reserve in Northern KwaZulu-Natal. Large budget cuts have made it very difficult for there to be enough rangers and for them to have all the equipment and assets need to prevent this onslaught. It is now time for the public to step in a help.

So far, in 2017, more than 530 rhino have been slaughtered senselessly by poachers in South Africa alone.

We all want to help, but we don’t always know how. We can’t all give up our day jobs and go into the anti-poaching field, but, we can assist those who are already in the field.

Introducing: The Hluhluwe Imfolozi K9 Unit.
This small team of dedicated individuals, are led by the noses of man's best friend: dogs. The unit's dogs are superbly trained at tracking down poachers, using their remarkable sense of smell and hearing. This makes the job easier for the rangers, whose task is to stop the poachers in their tracks.

The HiP K9 Project has been almost entirely funded by private individuals and WESSA Lowveld. However, it costs almost R 14,000 a month to keep one dog and his trained handler in the field and funds are starting to run dry, with the expansion and continuous expenses of running the operation. The unit now desperately needs some financial help and donations, which we are hoping companies or the public may be able to help with!

Follow our Facebook page for more posts about the unit, updates, and ways in which you can help. (https://www.facebook.com/ImfoloziK9Unit/)

If we all work together and support each other, we will win this devastating war on Rhino poaching. Failure is not an option!
