Campaign Story
Hello, my name is Lawrence. I am 37 years old. And my beloved wife, Eia, is 35 years old. Eia has been diagnosed with Colorectal cancer just recently. She has been the most amazing mother to our 2 beautiful children, Louise - 8, and Enrico - 4. She is not only a dedicated and loving mother and wife but also a very responsible and helpful daughter to her parents. Because of her big heart to her family, oftentimes she tends to ignore her needs and puts herself last.
Few months ago, we consulted a doctor because of her mild fever and fatigue. All this time, we were under the impression that it was just UTI. Her initial tests came out fine but it doesnt explain the root cause of the symptoms. We then consulted a gastroenterologist who advised that we need to go through colonoscopy after my wife shared the bleeding in her stool. The gastroenterologist thought it was nothing serious because of her age and absence of other usual symptoms. But still, we decided to do the procedure for our peace of mind.
Prior the procedure, we were advised to do a CT scan since Eia has a rare case called Situs Invertus. This means that the organs in her chest and abdomen are reversed. When the CT scan came out, the impression was overwhelming. There were words like "colon mass and worrisome liver mass". And when the colonoscopy and other test results came out, that was when our world came crashing down. We were in shock, in denial, in pain and scared. Our first thought was our kids who are just 8 and 4 years old respectively.
We never expected that a low grade fever would turn out to be as dreadful and fearful as this. The biopsy has proven that it is indeed malignant. And to make our suffering worse, the PET scan showed that it has already spread to the liver.
Because of the severity of her condition, we were advised to undergo sessions of aggressive chemotherapy immediately to reduce the size of the tumor. At her age (35 years old), we could not believe that we are fighting against time. At this point, doctors could not operate yet because of its size. It would be risky to perform surgery right away because it could increase the tumor cell dissemination.
Cancer treatments (chemotherapy, radiation, tests, medicines, surgery) such as PET scan, KRAS/ NRAS are very expensive and are just partially covered by our health insurance. Hence, we are humbly requesting for financial help.
We want her to survive just like how her mother defeated stage 3 breast cancer. We want her to live so that she could have more time with our amazing kids and family. We want her to fight because she still wants to accomplish and achieve many things.
With prayers, support from our family, and your help... we are fervently hoping and praying
that she could also beat this. We could beat this.
