Heshbon’s Kids Acadamy School Bus

Heshbon's Kids Acadamy provides free education for orphans and vulnerable children from 2 tot 12 years old. The school is located in the fishing vilage Senya Beraku by the Ghanian coast, approximately an hour drive to the capital Accra.

The school gives education to the children most vulnerable to child labor. Often the vulnerable kids will be recruited for the fishing industry on Lake Volta. The parents will recieve an initial fee for their children (around 25 USD), after this the parent will recieve a small amount each month for the lease of their children (around 8 USD).

Currently there are 158 children registered in the school. However most times there are only 50 children in school. A lot of the children have to walk to school for more than an hour. This is why we need a school bus. With the bus more children will recieve education, making them less vulnerable.

When the school bus is not being used by the school, it can be used for public transport (trotro). This way the bus can raise funds for the school itself.

Every donation however small it may be, can make a world of difference for the kids.

At the moment we're raising funds for expanding the school with a new building. The current building is not ideal for the kids as it's too small. More info here.

Heshbon's Kids Acadamy is een gratis school voor weeskinderen en kwetsbare kinderen van 2 tot 12 jaar oud. De school bevindt zich aan de Ghanese kust in het vissersdorp Senya Beraku, ongeveer een uur van de hoofdstad Accra.

De school geeft les aan de meest kwetsbare kinderen in Senya Beraku. De kwetsbare kinderen worden vaak geronseld om te werken in de visindustrie op het Voltameer. De ouders ontvangen eerst een kleine som (ongeveer 23 euro), hierna ontvangen ze maandelijks een kleine som als "leasing" voor de kinderen (ongeveer 7 euro).

Momenteel zijn er 158 kinderen ingeschreven in de school. Op de meeste dagen zijn er maar 50 kinderen aanwezig op de school. Veel kinderen moeten namelijk meer dan een uur wandelen naar school. Daarom zijn we bezig met geld inzamelen voor een schoolbus. Met de bus kunnen meer kinderen naar school gaan.

Als de schoolbus niet gebruikt wordt door de school kan deze worden ingezet als openbaar vervoer (trotro). Op deze manier kan de schoolbus geld opbrengen voor de school zelf (lonen van leerkrachten).

Elke donatie hoe klein ook, kan een wereld van verschil maken voor de kinderen.

Momenteel is de school aan het uitbreiden met een nieuw gebouw. Het bestaande gebouw is te klein voor de kinderen. Meer info over het nieuwe gebouw HIER.
