Please help me fund the purchase of a service dog. I am a disabled veteran who has been diagnosed, among other issues, with PTSD. My former service companion passed away last February and I have been lost without her. My counselor has been strongly urging me to unite with another companion but there have been a few obstacles I've been trying to overcome. I have done extensive research on different breeds in regards to disposition, trainability, maintenance, longevity, etc. The best breed for me and my family is either a Golden Doodle or a Bernie Doodle. These are a cross between a Golden Retriever or Bernese Mountain Dog and a Standard Poodle. They are incredible dogs but very spendy. I would love to see many more of these dogs available for veterans. There are a few organizations that provide dogs and training for veterans for no cost but unfortunately they are not very flexible in their choice of breeds because of the costs involved or they are so booked up that it will be several months before they accept any new applicants. The average cost of a Golden Doodle runs between $1500-1800 USD. Any proceeds that exceed my goal here will carry over to sponsor another veteran to purchase a dog or I will donate the extra funds to a service dog organization. If this goes well, I will consider forming an official organization that will continue this quest for others. Another option I would consider would be the direct donation of a dog.
