Herman Cherry’s Medical Fundraiser!

My name is Carla Cherry and I have made this medical fundraiser page for my father, Herman Cherry. My father is a mechanic and car painter and loves to help people in need. He has helped a great number of people throughout his life, including mine. He was always there whenever I needed my car fixed or anything of that nature. I had never had to take my car to an auto repair shop because he would always check my car.

Unfortunately my father has been in a bad car accident. On January 15th 2016 he was taken to the Naval Hospital and we found out that he is currently paralyzed from the chest down and he is now quadriplegic. He had damage to his spine and nerves and currently cannot move his arms and legs...The neurologist told us that there is a low possibility of him regaining any movement in his arms and legs. But we have hope, especially with recent progress that we have seen!

He is slowly regaining sensation in his arms and legs which is a blessing but needs to be in rehabilitation to maximize his abilities. He has recently started to flex his arm muscles a bit (still cannot lift his arm or move fingers) but it's a great start! It would be great to hear him play his harmonica again!

I made this fundraiser page so that we can be able to fund his trip to Palo Alto Health Care Systems in San Francisco, California where he will be receiving rehabilitation. We live in Guam and it will be costly to send him there and pay for extra expenses such as having my mother travel with him to get him settled.

Through rehabilitation we hope that he will be able to at least regain the ability to move his hands. We have high hopes considering his current progress but he needs further intense rehabilitation.

We will be highly greatful if you could donate any amount to our family so that my father may get the right treatment he needs!
