We need to reduce our dependence on oil. The ecological, political, and economic damages need to be remedied. We want to be part of the solution before it is too late. We are taking a stand - Our greatest personal consumption of energy must be able to be powered without continued pollution, and it must able to be independent of external pressures.

We are forming a company, Electric Dream Machine, to make our resolution for independence possible for ourselves and all those who share the vision. We are using EXISTING TECHNOLOGY, and EXISTING PARTS to convert gas cars to operate entirely on electricity instead of gas. We are improving the cars' performance. We are having the greatest effect on national fuel consumption and generating the smallest carbon footprint while doing it. Remember in dodgeball when you caught the opposing team's ball? Not only did you knock them out, you also brought in one of your team-mates - a real swing of the tide;  Converting existing cars is kinda like that. To achieve our goal, hundreds of thousands of cars need to be converted, but we can't do it alone.

We do it by removing the gas engine, fuel tank, fuel lines, muffler and all the exhaust components. Then we attach the motor to the transmission, drop in the batteries and other system components and enjoy the benefits.  What's best of all, is that the technology is already available to make this possible. The problem is that it still requires a wide array of skills to do it.  That's where we come in - converting cars and designing modules to simplify the process for others.

Our flagship product is a powerful battery module designed to be easily installed into any car. It will debut at the Second Annual Electric Vehicle Conversion Convention in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, in September 2012. We are restoring this 1971 Super Beetle to demonstrate these modules.

HerbiEV, the 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle, is currently in rough shape.  His gas engine leaked oil faster than we could pour it in - but that's already remedied by the electric motor.  In his 40 years, Iowa roads have given him extensive rust, and the last ten years of neglect destroyed what was left of his interior. Extensive body work and a complete interior overhaul are in order. Although we have the skills and space to do it, the whole process is currently being slowed by having just one benefactor. We need your assistance through financial backing - every dollar helps. All sponsors will be publicly thanked and explicitly listed in literature for HerbiEV.

Beginning this fall we will be taking orders to perform conversions for clients.  Any contributions in excess of $1000 will qualify for a 2:1 discount on labor. For every dollar contributed, two will be given back as discount.

Update posted by Nabil Hanke at 10:26 pm

Blood sweat and tears have removed nearly all the body filler that had been slathered across HerbiEV's sides. Progress is advancing.   It is clear that the heater channels, a structural component, are rotten and must be replaced.  As well, the bottom few inches of the rear quarter panels and
