Help Zee Get to Washington – YesWeCan!!!

I am South African. Because of Mandela, I can to the power of ten. Because of Trevor Noah, I can to the power of "n"!

I recently received a fellowship award to spend a semester as a Masters student at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Yes, I am an intellectual bae (really smart person) who is going International. At the moment, I am reading towards my Masters degree in International Relations (IR) at Wits University in Johannesburg. Next month (August) I leave to join the International Affairs programme at the Elliot School of International Affairs. My fellowship award covers living expenses in DC, but excludes my travel costs and the costs for securing my accommodation. I need to raise money for my visa application, flight tickets and accommodation fees.

I am appealing to your generosity for a hand-up (not a hand-out), so that I can make my way to the Elliot School in Washington, DC for the Fall semester. It is a prestigious school and, being a stone-throw away from the White House, the IMF and the World Bank, it is every IR student's (and Scandal fan's) dream :)

On my return to South Africa, I intend to continue building a foundation for a career in policy and academia. My interests include development policy and practice in Africa, the role of education in development and growth and gender parity/equality in education, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. The potential of the African girl-child is an issue that is particularly close to my heart.

I believe that this trip and my experience at the Elliot School will assist me to continue to play a meaningful role in the development of our budding democracy and beautiful country, South Africa, which remains full of hope and possibility.
