Hi there! My name is Wency and I'm raising money to subsidize my expenses as I attend a 3-month Software Development program in Austin, Texas with General Assembly. This program is very intense (60+ hrs per week) and will not allow me to work. Without your help I will be unable to attend the program, even with a scholarship. I'm recovering from a corneal transplant which left me financially destitute. My expenses will cover room & board, out-of-state health insurance & transportation so that I can concentrate on my studies.
I was born in the tropical country of Haiti and became an American Citizen when I was young. I graduated from the International Baccalaureate Program and Honors Courses in high school, studied (on scholarship) Political Science & Violin Performance at Florida State University, Humanities at Los Angeles City College, and Marketing at American InterContinental University. My favorite hobbies have always been reading, volunteering and playing the violin!
I've passed General Assembly's pre-requisite training, have already been accepted into the program and will hopefully be receiving my Tuition Scholarship Acceptance Letter soon. Once I'm done, I'll be qualified to work as an entry-level software engineer. I've always had an affinity for software programs and am striving for my ultimate goal, which is to create educational software for children that teaches them computer programming, music and foreign languages.
This is, hopefully, where you come in. Depending on how much you choose to donate, you can help me reach my goal for the price of your last week's coffee budget! Without your help I will be unable to attend the program, even with the scholarship. I will make you some promises set in stone and they are as follows:
-Any funds that I raise in excess of what I requested will be donated to TWO other individuals seeking crowdfunding on this site to attend a tech program. Your help today will be "paid forward".
-Once a week I will detail my progress via Youtube Live. You can watch live or visit the replay on my blog that will be created specifically for this purpose.
-My request for: $5,000.00
-Transportation: $600 (/12 = 50)
-Out-of-State Health Insurance: $700 (/3 = 233)
-Room & Board: $3700 (/3 = 1000)
