We are a small family that does not ask for much. We also love giving to others and helping wherever we can. Unfortunately, we are currently in a situation where we cannot afford to cover our outstanding rent and we are being forced to move out of our home if we do not cover the outstanding amount by 15 February.
My name is Elizabeth and my family and I are from South Africa. We live in a small farm-like town in a house that we are renting for R7850 ($520) per month. The rent includes our electricity bill, water and rates. I am the eldest of 4 children. Our mother is currently hospitalized with COVID-19 and I have been retrenched from my job in November 2020. We have no income except for that which I get from freelance and part-time jobs that I do wherever possible. Most of that money goes towards groceries and public transport fares to get around to be able to do these jobs.
At the moment we are already 1 month behind on our rent and the rent for February is already due. Our landlord has given us until the 15th of February to pay last month's rent and until 25 February to pay our rent for the current month. This means that we have to somehow get R15 700 ($1040) in a couple of days.
Our mother has been in an Intensive Care Unit for 15 days before she was moved to a Special care unit in the hospital. We have not been able to see her or speak to her for almost a month. All we can do is pray for her and keep our hopes high that she will recover. We are hopeful that she recovers soon and that we can have her back home with us.
I am trying my best to take care of my siblings as they are all still young (4 - 13 years old), but I simply cannot manage to make this amount of money in such a short period of time, so I am turning to you for help. Please consider donating so that we can stay in our home until our mother recovers.
Please email me at [email protected] for more detailed information about our situation. The information on the pictures has been crossed out to protect our personal information.
May God bless you.
Thank you in advance.
