What happened to Nanay Baby?
Nanay Baby (my mother), Carmelita Sta. Maria, was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer Stage-3c on 21 February 2021.
When this news was broken to us, I was shattered. When we were growing up Nanay worked abroad for 9 years as care-giver so my brother and I can finish our education. I promised myself that when I start working, I would repay her sacrifices back and care for her in the best possible way.
It took us awhile to accept this challenge but with God's grace we found the courage to face it and consulted with her doctors on next step which was for her to undergo chemotherapy.
The treatment regime started and she consistently inspired us as she bravely attended her first 3 sessions on 6th of May, 27th May and 18th June.
How is Nanay Baby?
On 15th July, a day before her 4th chemo session, we had to rush her to the Emergency Room of UST hospital as her blood pressure shot up. Her chest X-ray found pneumonia in her lungs and the doctors were ruling out the case of stroke.
After only 2 days in the hospital, our bill reached 126k.
- Emergency Room bill alone was 46k
- Pneumonia medication costs 16k per day (and will continue for 7 days)
- Laboratory expenses at 35k
MRI (~27k) test results on 20th July confirmed that she had a stroke. While the priority at this point is to treat her pneumonia before providing the medications for her stroke, her heart condition is continuously being monitored 24 hours through 2D Echo and Holter tests.

Fast forward to 14th September, we are on our 3rd week
Please HELP US.
While my faith is strong, I cannot help but worry about how we will be able to afford these unplanned expenses: hospitalisation, pneumonia and stroke treatment; and the required diagnostic procedures. It makes me weak to my knees, sleepless and anxious and prevents me from giving Nanay the best care and attention I should be giving her during this critical time.

In behalf of our family we would like to thank all who have pledged their support and continuously praying for nanay’s complete healing and fast recovery. Nanay was able to come home a day before her 67th bday. She was able to celebrate it with us and her siblings. Currwntly her right extremities are numb and her speech was also affected by stroke. On Aug2 we visited a urologist because there were bleeding in her urine. Result of her cystoscopy showed that both of her kidneys were now affected by bad cancer cells and another node was seen outside her uterus. The doctor advised to administer stenting on both kidneys simce she will need to undergo series of radiation and brachy therapy. Ahe also needs to undergo regular speech and physical therapy to regain her strengrh and ability to speak well again. She use to complain stomach ache since she is having difficulty on defacating not unless assisted by a supository. Friends and prayer warriora, please contonue to pray for my namay’s complete healing and fast recovry. We claim victory over all her sicknesses, we.cast them away and order them.not to. Come and rule over her body. We thank you Lord for your healing mercy amd provisions. We give praise unto you. We ask you to hear and answer our prayers in the mighty name.of Jesus, our savior. Amen.
