Campaign Story
Dear Thalassa friends,
Who could ever have thought that the Coronavirus situation would unfold the way it has, and that it would last this long?
With you not able to travel to us, the year 2020 forced us to find alternative sources of income: we try to sell our pizzas to Manadonese via delivery or at our resort, and we offer diving at the Bunaken National Park to locals or expats. However, this proves to be extremely difficult in times of crisis - the income is barely enough to pay any working staff.
We also have to maintain our nice resorts with limited resources, always hoping that things will return to normal soon. How wrong have we been last year!
We're not out of this yet
To be very honest, we expect the situation to be ongoing at least until the end of summer, maybe even the end of the year. As I write this, I see our life's work crumbling down and any income generated now is simply not enough to keep the doors open.
We are still trying to help the students of our school, our team is still getting together every week to do what they can. However, I don't see how we can stay afloat unless I ask for your help.
And I hate asking for help. It's not in my nature - I much prefer to help others. But this is the reality we're facing.
So what is our goal?
Understandably, running two resorts without guests is expensive, so the target amount of this crowdfunding campaign is to cover the bare minimum of monthly expenses to bridge the gap between now and the end of 2021.
The expenses include the following essentials:
- Night security at resorts
- Basic salary core team
- Utilities/electricity
- Cost of working visas and licences
- Marketing & essential software expenses

Your donation will help us push through the year 2021, making sure that our beautiful resorts - which we've worked so hard for - will be able to stay up & running by the time travel restrictions are lifted once again.

Another month

Your donations made it possible to recall most of the staff and give most of them, although not all full time, enough work to earn a bit of salary. One of them even hugged. . . . .

This means that a total of around € 2,700 has not been paid out to us, and simply returned to you without any explanation. . . . .

Ik houd jullie updates op de zaterdag in de gaten, ook al log ik nooit in (lastig tijdstip voor ons). We zijn als duikteam Merou twee keer bij jullie geweest en vonden het fantastisch.
