Hi everyone. My name is Albert Mulles. I am posting this message to anyone who would take time to understand the situation that we have gone through in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Rai. I am appealing for your generosity and kind assistance in this tragic time to help me rebuild our family member's lives back home in my province especially in the hometown of my mother Hinundayan town where I spent part of my childhood.

As an English teacher based overseas, I owe the greater part of my life to my relatives and friends back home. My heart is still aching to see the beautiful towns of Southern Leyte beaten to a pulp and washed out with thousands of families left homeless. Since my family members also suffered, I was one of the first to extend help but I am just one person and my savings are already depleted. I cannot do this alone. I am calling out to you my dear friends, to strangers, and to people who can understand, wherever you are in the world, to join me extend a helping hand.

I would like to emphasize the need for assistance not just for us but also for other towns severely affected like Panaon, Sogod Bay and Maasin Areas of Southern Leyte, which includes the municipalities of Silago, Hinunangan, Hinundayan, Anahawan, Cabalian, St. Bernard, Liloan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, Libagon, Sogod, Bontoc, Tomas Oppus , Malitbog, Padre Burgos, Limasawa, Macrohon, Maasin. During better times, the people of Southern Leyte are renowned for their kindness and generosity in the entire Philippines - a place of happy folks and a friend of all nations.

While it is not in my nature to ask, I only have limited amount of resources on my own and I now rely on others for assistance as my savings have run out. We are appealing for food, water, and clothing. The local government resources are currently limited due to the enormity of the disaster spreading to almost the whole of Visayas region and Northern Mindanao. Many coastal homes have been destroyed, leaving residents without food, clothing, or shelter. IF YOU CAN DONATE ANY AMOUNT OR IN-KIND ITEMS, that will significantly be a LIFE SAVER and we will forever be indebted to you.

We are in need of help physically, emotionally, and spiritually — perhaps, financially. We want to say RISE UP SOUTHERN LEYTE, but we cannot do it on our own. Not at this time. We will very soon, but until then we need you. We need your help to get up, we need your help while we're on our lowest, we need your help and we need it most this time.

1. The immediate need at the moment is to send in-kind items to the survivors good for a thirty-day supply run. We have identified the basic needs as follows:

  • canned goods
  • rice
  • water filters
  • warm blankets
  • medicines
  • baby food

2. The second part of our aid will go to helping stranded animals or stray animals find their homeowners while temporarily seeking a makeshift shelter for them. We will buy the following:

  • dog food and cat food
  • veterinary medicine supply
  • makeshift shelter

I have coordinated with some of the active charity and socio-civic groups on the ground that we will be supporting to make sure that our deliverables will be received directly by the recipients. One of them is JCI Philippines through JCI Tacloban, a local chapter within proximate location of the disaster area. JCI is a leadership oriented organization but is also active in socio-civic activities. I have been a member of JCI since 2011 and has served as one of its regional training directors.

WE NEED YOUR URGENT HELP. WE SEEK YOUR GENEROSITY IN THIS TIME OF NEED

Looking back at Typhoon Haian in 2013, these photos below document our Disaster Relief Operations. Thanks to people like you, we were able to help hundreds of people at that time and earned as a humble citation by the Philippines government.
