On March 7th, 2016, our lives forever changed. Life for the Blessing family had been moving along nicely, until my husband Tim developed what I initially thought to be the flu. On March 6th, those flu-like symptoms got worse, and I noticed blue lines traveling up from his feet to his hips and beyond. They rushed my Timmy to Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, and determined that he had sepsis. Soon after, he went into septic shock, a life threatening condition. Blood results later indicated that he had Neisseria meningitides, a very rare blood infection. This was no flu that we were dealing with. With the doctors telling me only a 2 % chance of survival, my husband was placed on numerous antibiotics, and we waited. Our family was devastated with the news, and very afraid for Tim. On April 2nd, Tim was airlifted to the Arizona Burn Center in Phoenix, Arizona, for better care needs due to his worsening infection. All of the blood in his body was rushing to his torso area, to keep his heart and lungs and internal organs working throughout, but leaving his extremities to suffer the damage. Tim has had 9 operations now, to stop this infection from spreading and deal with the damage done. He has dealt with 3 different bouts of pneumonia and infection. His right hand is now amputated, his left hand partially amputated, and both legs amputated above the knees. A lot of change, a lot to deal with for Tim and for our family. Tim is still in the ICU area and now progressing in healing, but remains with a tracheostomy tube, unable to speak yet, and just now starting to face the difficult healing journey ahead from this horrendous infection and what it has done. Tim, my wonderful husband of 36 years, has a long and hard road of rehabilitation and recovery ahead. There is still rehabilitation work, therapy work, prosthetics work, and a lot of emotional healing to occur, the costs of all which are looming great in our minds. Everyone loves my Timmy – he is such a good man to me and an amazing father to our sons. We are not the type of people to ask for anything, but my Timmy really needs your help right now. If you could find it in your heart to make a donation – any amount at all – this will greatly help us face the tremendous costs of prosthetics and care that lie ahead for Tim. Thank you for all of your prayers, love, and support being sent our way, and for giving Timmy a greater gift of life and ability for the future.
