Help Save The Children

This is a warm, but urgent appeal for your help. Please spare us 2 minutes of your time and read this.

This is a one time fundraising and your help is very needed.

We are a large group of volunteers that are – or have been – working at an orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, as you might know. This orphanage is led by a very motivated coordinator and some wonderful caregivers, who provide a safe home for about 30 children diagnosed with HIV by birth. Because of their disease they form a very vulnerable group, which outside this place, would face discrimination and serious health issues.

Most of the kids lost both of their parents due to HIV and in other cases the family isn't capable or willing to take care of them, their education or the medical care that is required. After years of funding the orphanage, the current NGO has lost interest in the faith of the children and decided to soon withdraw all their support, leaving thirty wonderful kids in a horrible situation, where they don’t have access to education, their home is being taken away and their loving environment, which they consider as their family, will be gone.

However the staff and we as volunteers are not willing to let this happen, so the decision has been made to start up a new NGO with the current coordinator, to keep the children together and the orphanage going until the last child is safely reintegrated into the society. Next to the already existing orphanage we are planning to extend the new NGO to help vulnerable children affected by HIV at the countryside in Cambodia, which don’t have the opportunity to get the needed education or medicine in their current environment. We are working on possibilities to provide home-based care for these children.

To begin this project, a start budget is required, so that is where you come in! We would like to ask you, to help us realise this project by donating to our online fundraiser. Every donation counts and increases the chance that we can keep this wonderful family together and prevent them from being neglected and split up. With donating, you can help us give these children the support they need to become independent strong adults with a fulfilling life, despite their diseases and their poor backgrounds.
