Help Princess be able to ENJOY being a puppy

I'm Princess, 5 month old Beagle puppy. My mom and dad adopted me just last November 12 when I was 4 months and just weighed 4.5lbs. I was supposed to be a birthday/Christmas gift for Grandpa but mom wanted to make sure that I am healthy first and has complete vaccinations. My mom took me to the vet to get my shots and deworming. Vet advised a schedule for food intake to make me gain more weight appropriate for my age plus additional supplement since my fontanel has not fully closed (soft spot in the skull).

I love sleeping and cuddling between my mom and dad. I am very energetic and playful and enjoys playing with my toys and pestering my 3 almost 'senior' sisters, Bailey, Swirley and Chichi.

Last December 10, Princess just slept most of the day until I persuaded her to eat that night and just ate and drank a little. She was not her usual self, "will eat if there's food" mode. Monday, she was really looking ill and immediately took her to the vet. Vet diagnosed her with hookworks and dewromed her, gave antibiotics and for fluid intake.

Tuesday, Dec 12, she was in pain and would not eat or drink or move. I rushed her to the nearest veterinary hospital. She has been confined since then with a dextrose to keep her hydrated plus medications. She was not eating, pooping nor vomiting and finally after 8 days, she finally pooped! We thought that it would finally give her relief from the abdominal pain she was feeling and would be on her way to recovery since the dewormer must have taken effect already but she is still very weak and can hardly stand. The vet recommended additional tests such as CBC, biochemistry and X-ray to know why she is not responding well to her medications. The X-ray showed Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD or slip disk) at the thoracic vertebrae #10 and #11 (spine area).

She is very weak and having trouble standing because of the pain. She is still confined and will need continuous medication to help heal the inflammation on her spine and help prevent paralysis. We are hoping that the medications will work well and there will be no need for a spinal surgery. But the vet advised that Physical Therapy is needed if we expect her to walk and play like a normal puppy.

So, I would like to ask for your help as her medical bills are already piling up and more tests will be made to ensure that the medications are working to reduce spinal inflammation as well as treat other problems caused by the hookworms in her system. Medications will still continue once she is released from the hospital and Physical Therapy, which is not common here in our country and must seek a specialist. We are hoping to have her home and be with her for Christmas or at the most by New Year.

Our little family NEEDS her to feel better and start her road to recovery and just be able to enjoy being a puppy. Please help her be an energetic, sweet, clingy and playful pup!

MEDICAL COSTS:

Confinement- PHP 1,200 per day

Dextrose Set- PHP 450 per 4 days

Parvo Test- PHP 800

CBC- PHP 500 (2 tests have been done for now)

Biochemistry- PHP 2,200

X-ray- PHP 500

Physical Therapy- will need to look for a specialist

Other costs: IVC, suppository, continuous pain medications, supplements and antibiotics.
