From the moment we arrive in this world, we cannot know what our destiny has prepared for us and what life's obstacles we will face. Thus, Natasa Nedic, 30, of Sremska Mitrovica, the mother of two young boys of three and six years, could not even guess what she would be forced to fight. She came to a difficult realization by chance, during an annual routine gynecological check-up.

- I have a rare and very aggressive cervical cancer, a neuroendocrine type. Only one percent of women in the world suffer from this type of cancer. I'm the person who went to gynecological examinations up to three times a year, but fate had a plan of its own. I noticed the first symptoms of the disease in early December 2017 and at that time I had a complete gynecological examination that was neat (Pap smear was good, swabs as neat and ultrasound). The doctor sent me home and said that all the symptoms I notice and feel are of hormonal origin. Unfortunately, the symptoms also came in early 2018 and I went back for a checkup. And then the doctor convinced me that everything was fine. It wasn't until the end of February, when I went for an examination for the third time, that the doctor saw "myoma" and said that he was causing all my problems,

“Soon, the results of a histopathological test came to me, saying that myoma was not myoma, but cancer of the cervix. I was immediately sent to Sremska Kamenica at the Institute of Oncology, where I was operated. Hysterectomy was performed with removal of lymph nodes. The cancer was just on the cervix, the lymph nodes were clean. In June, I started receiving "preventive" chemotherapy, solely because of the aggressive type of tumor, and received my last therapy in November 2018. In December I did a magnetic resonance imaging scan, which was neat, with no signs of illness, but already in April of the following year my condition was it worsens and magnetic resonance imaging shows aggressive disease return. This time, the tumors are located in the lymph nodes of the abdomen, the remaining ovary, the hilus of the liver and the lungs. I can't even describe how I felt then. But,

Brave Natasha soon learned from the Institute of Oncology in Kamenica that she was not a candidate for surgical treatment, but also that doctors could not prescribe her chemotherapy because there was no standard protocol in the treatment of neuroendocrine cancer of the cervix.

- Medicines that I can receive are not appropriate, which is why I contacted a professor from Houston who is researching and treating this type of tumor. He wrote us in writing which therapy would help me. Unfortunately, these are drugs that are not on the RFZO list. These are Avastin, Irinotecan and Taxol
, which cost around EUR 1,385 per month. In the meantime, my health is deteriorating rapidly, the tumor in my abdomen has started to grow rapidly - the story of Natasha's evil fate.

According to her, the Institute did not have a solution to her problem, which is why she again contacted our top surgeon prof. dr Dragutin Kecmanovic.

- I was operated on at Aurora Private Hospital in July. Prof. dr. Dr. Kecmanovic managed to remove all tumor changes in the abdomen and there were other changes in the lungs that made me need to receive biological and chemotherapy. I consulted in a private clinic where I could receive therapy, but for my treatment (which would last a minimum of one year), it required between € 40,000 and € 50,000. It is a sum that my family cannot provide on its own. We have managed to get some treatment up to now, but this is beyond our reach. That is why I am forced to turn to good people for help, in the hope that they can help us raise the funds necessary for further healing. I give my best and I do not give up, but we cannot win this battle alone - Natasha will honestly.

"Hurricane" feelings

- It is difficult to describe in a few sentences how one feels when they find out a terrible diagnosis and prognosis. I had a lot of things over my head, a real hurricane of various feelings, and if there was no family to support me to persevere and believe, I do not know if I would have the strength to rise from the whole situation and move on. Money is a big obstacle now, but I must not let it depress me. I have to, as before, believe in the best possible outcome - Natasha said.

How to help?

Since Natasa Nedic is starting this battle right on the Humanitarian Bridge "Vesti" and has not yet turned to help humanitarian foundations, and that she needs more money in the next year to recover the joy of her little girl and loved ones, this is her support from good people and more than welcome.
