Help Mira Back on Her (Four) Feet

Had an absolutely unfortunate and horrific incident two days ago, while in Gurupi, Toncatins Brazil (I am working with the British Council here currently) when the driver accidentally hit this adorable little puppy who was trying to cross the road!

We have lovingly named her Mira - for miracle, because she truly is a miracle dog and we want to tell you why.

My British Council colleague, Monica (also the Co-Owner of this crowdfunding campaign who lives here in Brazil) and I screamed for the driver to stop the truck and we immediately jumped out and ran into busy traffic to go get her.

We managed to scoop her up before another car could hit her.

Thankfully, she is alive. However, both her legs and hips are broken.

She was in shock and in a lot of pain, but despite the trauma, she let us hold her and give her lots of cuddles as we raced to the nearest Vet office.

After we were able to get her into a local vet, we discovered she also has a blood parasite, which derives from ticks, which causes anemia. Evidently, this is a common disease for street dogs here in Brazil.

It is absolutely urgent that we raise enough funds to get this precious little girl into surgery immediately so that her bones can be reset and her anemia treated properly.

It's a blessing she is alive.

Tonight she's off the streets, being cared for by our friends here in Gurupi because can't afford to keep her at the Vet overnight while waiting on funds.

She is in a lot of pain and we need your help to ensure she gets the necessary medical care she needs, so she can get well and be adopted into a loving home.

She is a mongrel (or mutt), probably about 8-10 months old and is so very sweet and loving. She deserves a better life than how we found her.
