YOUR SPARE CHANGE CAN BE OF GREAT HELP. HELP US GET BACK ON OUR FEET WITH OUR 230,000 PESOS HOSPITAL BILL...

My Wife MJ and our Little Son Jeffry II is visiting Singapore to spend our first Christmas holidays together. They arrived in 14th from Maramag, Bukidnon, Philippines.

Unfortunately, on 27th of December 2019 baby got high fever and having convulsion, his eyes rolled up. He's already stiff and pale that I can't lift his arms, not even breathing that's why I PANICKED and ran outside our room and asked our roommate to book a cab to the hospital.

44449842_1578150808702484_r.jpegI don't even want to wait for the booked cab to arrived that I started knocking on the windows of the cars stopped at the traffic light intersection near our rented place along Geylang Road with our son on my arms I knocked at the first car, it was a private car as I can remember, there was a lady besides the driver, I was telling it's an emergency but they were also in shocked and wasn't sure how to respond to us.

My roommate told me the cab he booked is already near so I stopped knocking on that private car, when I was going back to the roadside I saw a taxi but already had passenger on it, I still tried and knocked, luckily the lady passenger was kind enough to gave way, she even paid the driver first before getting off, I haven't got her name nor the taxi driver's name, but I still want to thank them for their kindness even just here online.

That was the scariest time of my life, our son was stiff and turning pale, he cries for a minute and stops like he is not breathing, I want him to cry the whole time we were on the cab so I will be sure he is breathing so I pump his heart and gave him oxygen through his mouth then I was relieved when he responded with his cry, I started calming down.

Doctors told us it's unusual for babies less than 6 month old to have convulsion, that's why they will be checking for other viral infections to the brain and we need to admit him.

We were ready to admit him, until we heard the admission officers telling us the estimate cost for three days was 15,000 SGD or in Philippine Peso it's half a million. That's was way too expensive and we surely can't afford it especially that we haven't got any travel insurance for them, but we can't bargain our son's safety so we agreed to admit him hoping he will be fine the next day so we can be discharged.

The next day I immediately ask how much is the bill already, I was told it was 3,500 SGD taking into consideration a 2-day stay or if we will be discharged the following morning, I was somehow relieved that it was no way near the estimate because baby was diagnosed with UTI and that other results for viral infections will still take time and we need to stay for at least 3 days.

Results all came NEGATIVE as what we were expecting and luckily we have been discharged on 30th of December and hadn't spent the new year in the hospital.

Total estimated bill was 6,334.48 Singapore Dollar or roughly 234,000 pesos, almost a quarter of a million pesos. Final bill will be sent to our address a week after discharge.

We know it's expensive to fall sick in Singapore but safety of baby is MORE IMPORTANT. We can always find ways to pay the bills later, as long as we live, and fight, for sure there are also kind people out there willing to lend a hand and help us get back on our feet.
