Kaizer's Story

Kaizer is the third child of our high school classmate, Ronald Quilban and his wife. He is now 8 years old and has spent most of his life in hospitals.

He was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia on October 2012 when he was just 2 years and 3 months old. Baby Kaizer underwent a mandatory 3-years cancer treatment protocol.

Before reaching his 3rd year of treatment, in 2014, the lymphoblast went to his brain and cerebrospinal fluid. His cancer relapsed and he was diagnosed with Central Nervous System (CNS) Leukemia. He again underwent radiation therapy at St Luke's Medical Center, 5 days a week for 3 months. Another 3-year cancer treatment protocol proceeded soon after.

He was about to graduate from his cancer treatment this April 2017 but unfortunately on March 18, 2017 Kaizer had high grade fever, joint and bone pain. Immediate confinement was ordered by his doctor. A bone marrow aspiration exam was conducted which revealed that he had another relapse. He is currently going through another round of cancer treatment for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. He will have to undergo all that pain and suffering again for the next three years of his young life.

Kaizer and his family are going through a lot right now. His parents feel helpless but they have not given up hope and are keeping their spirits high. They have to endure this latest setback and fight with their son. "Napakahirap ng pinagdadaanan nya ngayon" ~ Ronald Quilban.

Kaizer is fighting an uphill battle at a very young age. He is again going through an exhausting number of medical procedures and has to suffer through all those excruciating cancer treatments over and over again. Medical expenses are mounting and are not letting up. His parent's meager salaries are not enough to cover the cost of all the life-saving treatment and medicines Kaizer desperately needs. His family have depleted all their savings and resources. Cancer treatment is very expensive. The Philippine health care system still has a long way to go before it is able to effectively help families like them who have become financially desolate as a result of suffering a medical crisis like this. This is the main reason why we are asking for your help. Please consider donating to help with Kaizer's cancer treatment.

If you have a child or care about one, imagine what it would be like for him/her to have cancer. A child with cancer can not do "normal" things that other children do everyday. Playing would just be too exhausting. Going to the mall with the family could be life threatening because of the child's compromised immune system. Your child will spend more time in hospitals than in school.
